A few summers ago, my youngest daughter began spotting tiny red berries in our yard with pure delight. She’d gather them up in her little hands, convinced she’d discovered treasure. I wasn’t sure they were edible at first, but after a bit of research, I learned they were indeed wild strawberries—small, sweet, and completely real. They’ve since become a simple reminder to me of nature’s quiet abundance and how joy often arrives in unexpected, humble forms.
Fragaria virginiana. Native to North America; these small wild strawberries grow in sunny meadows, along forest edges, and even in backyards, spreading freely through runners and returning year after year.
About the Golden Halo Collection:
Each miniature painting celebrates light, resilience, and the quiet wonder found in nature’s details. Watercolor, gold ink, and acrylic medium combine to form delicate studies of flora and fauna—butterflies, moths, and wildflowers—that invite us to pause, notice, and be restored by nature’s beauty.
Born from a desire to slow down and reconnect, Golden Halo continues my exploration of stillness and renewal through the natural world. Every piece reflects my belief that beauty can be found in even the smallest subjects—each framed by a radiant circle of gold, symbolizing the light that endures within and around us.
