There’s something magnetic about thistles—the way they balance softness and strength. I’ve always loved their resilience and the quiet way they invite pollinators even when overlooked. The Antelope Moth perched on this bloom adds another layer of contrast and harmony, a moment of wild connection that feels both fierce and fragile.
Cirsium vulgare with Zygaena filipendulae. The Spear Thistle is native to Pennsylvania and much of North America, known for its spiny leaves and vibrant purple flower heads that attract bees, butterflies, and moths alike. Paired here with the Antelope Moth, it reflects the reciprocity at the heart of nature—beauty and balance living side by side.
About the Golden Halo Collection:
Each miniature painting celebrates light, resilience, and the quiet wonder found in nature’s details. Watercolor, gold ink, and acrylic medium combine to form delicate studies of flora and fauna—butterflies, moths, and wildflowers—that invite us to pause, notice, and be restored by nature’s beauty.
Born from a desire to slow down and reconnect, Golden Halo continues my exploration of stillness and renewal through the natural world. Every piece reflects my belief that beauty can be found in even the smallest subjects—each framed by a radiant circle of gold, symbolizing the light that endures within and around us.
