After painting the blue pansy, I knew I wanted to create another. There’s something endlessly joyful about these flowers—their cheerful faces, the way they brighten a garden with color and charm. I found this variety, Viola tricolor(Penny Peach Jump-Up), and loved how its soft blush tones echoed the violet’s gentleness while adding a warmth all its own. It felt like a companion piece, a continuation of the same tenderness that runs through my memories of my mom and grandmother—proof that beauty often asks only for attention and care.
Viola tricolor. Commonly known as a Johnny Jump-Up or wild pansy, this flower is native to Europe and Western Asia but has naturalized widely across North America. Its heart-shaped petals and tri-color blooms symbolize thoughtfulness and remembrance, making it a quiet favorite among gardeners and artists alike.
