My daughter and I came across this butterfly while paging through Butterflies of the World, and we both paused—drawn in by its deep, oceanic blue. There’s something grounding about that kind of color, the way it feels both calm and electric at once. Painting it felt like capturing a fragment of sky, or a thought mid-drift—quiet, fleeting, but full of life.
Lexaeus cyanipardus. Native to tropical regions of South America, this species is known for its vivid cobalt-blue wings edged with soft black. Often found along forest paths and riverbanks, its brilliance comes alive in dappled light, like a hidden jewel waiting to be seen.
About the Golden Halo Collection:
Each miniature painting celebrates light, resilience, and the quiet wonder found in nature’s details. Watercolor, gold ink, and acrylic medium combine to form delicate studies of flora and fauna—butterflies, moths, and wildflowers—that invite us to pause, notice, and be restored by nature’s beauty.
Born from a desire to slow down and reconnect, Golden Halo continues my exploration of stillness and renewal through the natural world. Every piece reflects her belief that beauty can be found in even the smallest subjects—each framed by a radiant circle of gold, symbolizing the light that endures within and around us.
