As I painted these pieces I thought about how the idea of preservation also relates to holding onto what is dear for ourselves. I think it’s important to make space to nurture the things that matter most to us and preserve it no matter what comes up. It can be easy to fill our lives to the brim but what does it look like to leave room to explore, to be bored, to just be. That’s something I’m leaning into.
